Poem Artwork

best intentions

intent on eating
at my self,
i forgot to feed
the birds,
greet the
morning or
bid nigh' the moon.

intent on bleeding
my self dry,
i forgot to water
the plants,
wash the windows,
stir vegies to soup,
or make tea.

until ...

intent on thriving
beyond self,
i summoned the birds
welcoming their return,
throwing back drapes
and calling for
the man in the moon.

intent on surviving
my self-torture,
i gave clean release,
cleared the slate,
lifted my sentence
and began to count
on days anew.

There is nothing more satisfying than becoming aware of our shortcomings, except maybe becoming aware of other's shortcomings as we cough superiorly in an attempt to hide our glee. Thanks for your comment by the way.
