Semblances are quite secure,
pursued and mocked in censure,
celestial dreams shrink and fade
as circuits--follow moon's eclipse,
this boundary never ethereal,
for burdens carried
as malignant curse and
Zodiac studied for keys
to this kingdom,
as man's dalliance with time's
passage,
for adverse clouds hide life's
truth,
this constellation born
with man's self-doubt,
frozen vapors all that remain
when treasures stored upon
this planet become all that's
ever claimed,
and the heart protects itself
by dying a little each day,
all semblances to those lesser
things.
