Flag unfurled
waving in the breeze,
in mid air suspended
that all may see.
The emblem of a nation
contrasts the sky,
its symbolic station,
for which some die.
The thirteen stripes
and the fifty stars
the original and new, alike,
both near and far.
Just one flag of many
waving in the breeze--
from vessels in the seas
and all the territories,
to each city and State,
of the United States.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
