Between the spires
I now conspire
to transcribe thoughts
that have no plot.

Torn asunder
or rather muddled
between the spires--
work and leisure.

There is no spire
betwixt these two
in which I move
my pen to write.

For whether I
my mind defy
my work is apt
to readapt;

to keep my verse
from it disperse
from deep within
it can't begin.

But in repose
my mind release
the deepest prose
it can disclose.

Between the spires
I still conspire
to transcribe thoughts
that are hard fought.
