What Is Poetry?

Poetry is not about rhyming words
at the end of lines.
It's not about cuplets
          and perfect lines--
It's about feelings
and expression
and asking why--
It's about rhythm
and that something
that you can't deny.
Most of all,
it's about that inner voice
bleeding forth on paper.

I absolutely agree and like this piece - except for the rhyme of why and deny - which causes it to seem less serious. tks
