The more I learn about the world, The more it disgusts me. For, as I climb experience's scaffold, The more wrong things I see. And, should I continue to climb higher, I will only see more and more of the view. I cannot escape the internal fire That burns without hope of being subdued; I cannot escape the greater chaos That works to overtake my mind. Everything is clouded in mental frost and political, historical, religious, and sensual grind-- Grinding and mixing and separating together In clumps of pretext, reason, and political motive Building on history's old deafening shoulder And everyone thinks they know what gives But they only know what their prejudice says, What the "facts" have concocted in their head And the world is inhabited with "we's" and "they's" And everyone has the right way that they're fed And things just get crazier and crazier 'Til I want to just wish we could all agree To stop the silliness, greed, and fanatical fear And just be accepting of differences and totally free But the more I learn about the world The more impossible it seems.
Yes, it's true, this dismal view. However, sometimes I have to consentrate on making my immediate surrounding view better, cleaner, more pleasant and bearable by doing my tiny part in the betterment scheme. Well expressed poem, J.M.!
