There was a young man who enlisted from
a town called Slim Pickens,
He walked so funny and made strange
noises the army called him
Private Chicken.
Let me go on to explain the basic
training incident,
after which the Sargent wanted him
escorted home and not sent.
Early in the morning the Sargent
would call all the men into
formation,
But Private Chicken was hard of
hearing and thought he said no
stations.
Once he caught up with the rest guess
what,
Ole Chicken didn't have on anything
to cover his butt.
It seemed the Private who came
and got him said you'd better shake it,
but all the Private heard was you have
to come out naked.
Poor Chicken had a worse time than he
should
When his platoon went on a night run
in the woods,
and everyone had returned from the run
that day
Private Chicken decided that he would
take a longer stay.
When he finally returned to the barracks
alone
it was two days later and everyone had gone.
He didn't see anyone he should know,
he found out later they were on
a weekend fur-low.
Soon came the time for the troops to return
and Private Chicken flew home and told
what he had learned.
