This poem is about a vacation in the rural Virginia middle peninsula in the mid 1960's and the simple joys of growing at that time and the fun that me and my sisters had. This poem is in my poetry book "The Journey Through My Life".

                                    MILK CARTON SAILBOAT

When we used to go visiting

                                    My grandparents country home

                                    In Virginia at Wake Landing

                                    My three sisters

                                    And of course myself

                                    Took coated milk cartons

                                    And made little sails

                                    So that it would float

And we would go down the hill

Then to the end of the pier

And we would have a thrill

Put our sailboat into the water

                                    We would just shrill

Seeing it sail in the rippling river
