This is prose / poetry is about an observation I wrote about that actually happened for the 2nd time while on a trip to the Outer Banks in September, 1993...Of course I knew who Reba was many years earlier....

 "REBA WHO #2

Oh here we were

On the road again

Toward scenic Cape Hattaras

And we were once again

Rolling along past the

Aged and ancient shoreline of

Salt bushes and sand dunes

We were once again

Listening to the car radio

When the radio announcer

Once again blurted out

The name of a now famous

Female country singer

And once again could not

Pronounce the name of the

Female singer named Reba

Who was singing her hit song

About a man who loved her

And took her to heavenly like heights

As though love made her feel

Like she was on top of a mountain

And in observation I unbeliveably said

I would think by now

That he would know

Just who Reba is

McIntyre. That certainly is interesting. Especially since it occurred at Cape Hatteras and not in country music country--the Bible Belt.

My experience was long ago about the time I saw our local radio station announcer in the radio tent at our Central Wisconsin State Fair interviewing a lady with a price tag on her straw hat, Minnie Pearl. The tent was empty except for the two of them. I was a teenager and eavesdropped for a bit, but uninterested, like apparently most of the morning carnival crowd, moved on.

A few years later when I was in college. The big-name singer/headliner at the fair, Roger, Dang me, Hang me (I can never remember his last name, Miller) got sick and couldn't perform. For the first time, I heard that a young sensation (teenager?), Reba McIntyre was going to be the headliner in Roger's place. I didn't see her performance but I know she didn't disappoint. She still doesn't every time she performs.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!

Prosetry at Work by Odin odin@aflx.com

This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given day.
