In honor of Independence Day, Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, Everyday, here is a repeat of a previous poem; Winds of Freedom was originally written based on the speech by Christopher Reeve as Superman near the end of "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace."
"Winds of Freedom"
Blowing through soft winds I breathe
Desire for freedom in the air,
Passionate whispers of the needs
For acceptance, for hope and care.
How to this dream can we succumb,
Within a world too full of hate,
Where greed and power overcome
And fears and prejudice berate?
But tight to my faith I do hold.
Whispers will grow to voices bold.
The winds will grow to one strong gale.
Freedom and peace can now prevail.
