"A mother-in-law and a daughter-in-law in one house are like two cats in a bag."

Jewish proverb

Fault Lines

It’s her fault

To live feeling helpless,

Unwilling to try to stand alone.

To live as if the present can’t matter

A quest lacking melody or tone.

It’s my fault

To live feeling angry,

To never offer my time,

To live in a house invaded

Silent blame, doubling the crime.

It’s his fault

In choosing oblivion,

Not to acknowledge or see,

He lives as if peace reigns in his kingdom

His blindness diminishing me.

Mostly it seems to not work out with 2 women living in the same home especially if they are mother and daughter or daughterin law too. I tried it with my Mom and she was glad to get her own place again after a while. I know my girls let me visit but would not let me live with them, they have told me so.

I know many who would agree, especially with that Jewish proverb.

Eileen, this is excellent...I love it. It's so descriptive in feeling, and I like the three different "sides of the story." Well done.

Powerful lines. Silence is also a weapon, as you point out. Very well done.
