Dogs
The dogs I saw today
Would make a big grump smile,
A fox terrier with his own water cup
A collar of sequined style.
A great oafish Labrador
Wandered off the track,
His galumphing gallop, his otter tail,
Seeking more friends for his pack.
The non-descriptive, joyous mutt
Feet flying in the purest joy,
The connection between us, a shared smile
A delightful, sweet envoy.
There’s nothing outside the human world,
I love more than dogs,
Their fidelity, their sweet souls,
Their endurance of monologues.
