Autism: Two Years After Diagnosis
A tap trickled water away drop by drop
Like dreams in bubbles that drifted and dissolved.
Then someone had an idea. It worked slowly, but well.
We caught the water in a bucket, used the water to grow
Something new.
It’s not the corn field we had planned,
But a bulb, a purple sweep of gladiolas
On a single stem to brighten the world.
All is not lost. Joy returns.
We seek the good and the beautiful,
Every small step a victory.
