I agree with Mary, this is great writing from beginning to end. Doesn't it sometimes make you tremble with the way words quake and shake out of our head?
Exhaust fumes, truck perfume, car stall ahead motor finally turns over
Against another piece of four wheel road kill, hot tar sticks to tires
I drive furiously, inch by inch by inch. Choosing lanes, carpool, shoulder, oncoming.
Then two truckers finally push the offender out of the way and more sneak through until the free-for-all begins unleashing a torrent of pent up motorists agitated, reckless, hardheaded.
