When I write or talk to writers, the problems of the world can be solved at least for a little while.
My Happy Place
At a keyboard or with a pen in hand
Playing with words on an empty page.
A thesaurus, a dictionary, a book of idioms,
Pictures from my albums or from the Internet,
Ideas jumping as fast as I can type.
I read the words aloud. One dog cocks her head.
Two snore on, twitching with dreams,
Or pretending to. Warm and comfortable though
It’s snowing outside.
Sometimes I spend too long, and my neck hurts.
Sometimes I let the household chores go.
Often I turn down a request to go here or there.
I’m writing.
I’m in my happy place.
Please let me stay another hour?

Of depression, back to the keyboard,
Where hope refuses to die,
And truths can be told, and feelings explored,
And I feel like myself again.
I so agree with you...writing has been my saviour and my life line many times...

I am in absolute agreement with u here, Eileen...Writing seems for me to make the blues go away...I may complain about computer addiction but in reality I have fun on this damn machine & it can put me to sleep if I need it, too...great write, and when is the master of the house gonna write some more fun stuff, he is missed...-e-
I've only been writing for a little over 3 years, and I can't begin to tell you how much my life has improved. Writing has been better than any medication. Thanks for sharing this expressive write.
Yesss! Amen to that and I'm not the religious type. Writing. It has led me slowly, but firmly out of the darkness which covered my every way of thinking. Writing. It helped me chase my demons away. I considered suicide once, but writing showed me a different way of thinking.
Yes! Thankfully there are 'happy places' in this life. Mine seems to play tag with me though. Peeks around a corner and then runs away. But then there are those times you can settle into it... Yupperbud! "the black zone of depression" Yikes! Been there repeatedly. Comes and goes, though, thank God. My wife and I are struggling there now. Like a relentless wet cloak it is. Our son has been in the hospital for a week, and our grand-daughter, Lilly, was in a car wreck with her mother. Sometimes all you can do is plop down, hold hands, and cry. There's no pretense in your work, Eileen, it's real and palpable. Enjoyed. Peace and continued inspiration. rlc
Comforting. Medical folk claim that morning blue light is essential for good health. But two hours in writing mode/mood ain't bad, either. Nicely said, Eileen.
