A New Day

Peeking through the blinds

This morning

I witnessed a new day come forth

Easing down its usual path

It approached

Darkness running ahead of it

Trying to escape

Yet it was overtaken

As the  brightness

Revealed your face, and

At that moment, I understood

The dew on my once somber cheeks

The smile on my face

The flutter in my heart.
