Never ending Memory

There they stood,

frozen in bronze.

Searching for hope

on the metalled field.

There I stood,

frozen in sorrow.

Scratching the history

I’d sealed,

inside a deep ignorance.

There they screamed,

telling me stories.

Casting the sun,

as black at my feet.

There I screamed,

clutching at my drowning ears.

Lowering my eyes

to the street of corporate stone.

There they begged

with supplicant fingers,

for an understanding crust

to fill their famished hearts.

There I begged

my knees to hold

me firm, in this place

of conflicting parts

and personal journeys.

There they promised

themselves and God,

that the world

of scattered seeds

would root and grow.

There I promised

them, my shattered calm

would sow in me,

a never ending memory.
