The alabaster halls bristle

tomes of trash paper refugees

circulate through politico's offices

coded messages

seeking deception's advantages

justifications sheltered in spin

they have surreptitiously created need

now they must

feed the voracious appetite of the anaconda

the ugly doctrine of socialstic bureaucracy

promissory notes for favors unpublished

have matured, payback

to debt holders will not be denied

the populace again fed a diet of untruth

representation remains

in special interest group's domain

the electorate's considerations

unimportant to tainted houses

of government, let them lament

the rule of the land

has been skillfully

wrested from their hands

to pay and pay and pay

'til death, when their heirs

will pay some more

freedom's glow

has never been so low

the rule of law

the cornerstone of democracy

now flagrantly violated

applicable only to the masses

the politicos are excused

"their honest mistakes"

taxation without representation

our great land

now come full circle

from its founding roots

complaining gets you nothing

but the government's boot

"Oh Say Can You See" ?

If banks use this money to actually help the people insted of remodeling CEO's offices and making things better for the golden parachutes....Oh my! What am I talking about? I must be living in some dream, thinking stuff like these same people who have ran us so far down will really do the right thing now.

I agree with you here, and I fear there is only more of this to come. The masses nod along so easily, driven well by the media who worship certain parties. Thought-provoking, indeed. Edwin hit the nail on the head in his comment.

Written with depth and great truth, an impassioned poem
that needs to be read by the politicians, who think we can
all be duped!

Jon,
There's heat and passion in your voice here, the poet unafraid to speak out when he sees injustice, favouritism, elitism, corruption even and a fall from grace and decency... and the burning question where have the old values gone? Bravo, Sir!

In fifty years you Americans have gone from "ask not what your country can do for you...ask what you can do for your country" to this...its a shame really...Great read Jon...hope someone's listening

Good write...How better to pay off the special interest cronies reponsible for putting this administration in power than to utilize "politics of fear". The rush to pass this pork-filled so-called stimulus bill should raise alarm. It is nothing more than outright thievery to pay toward the advancement of a socialist agenda. It is sad that this country must endure unqualified leaders elected by the uninformed

I like what you say here, Jon -- but how in hell can we ever
get things done when we can't get a concensus from the people
we elect to get things done? Write on, my friend. -gene.

The rich get richer and the poor ... well you know. Right in the a --. :( Sad. Would love to see those fatcatz living on my VA disability - less than $250.00 a MONTH!! Nope: they get their bonuses. What do we get? A kick in the pants. Thank you for your service!!!! Powerfully penned, I'm just as frustrated.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Hey Obama says spending is stimulus chiding the Republicans. His cronies gave him a big hand as they were all democrats he was speaking to. Yes spend to create jobs not add a lot of pork which is 2/3rds of this package. And if you don't pass it we are gonners. What a bunch of crap.

You make valid points here. I especially find truth in the part about our children's children paying the cost. Verily, they will be without funding when they retire. The rich continue to line their pockets. Great write for raising awareness. Hugs,
Sheila
