her talent a birthright
power to move men’s souls
tender enough to share love
in mountainous quantities
she urged all to “go tell it

hills - and everywhere”
“that Jesus Christ is born”
my soul is enlightened
as the Christmas season
approaches her recording
receives more frequent
airings with her message
hope springs eternal

give thanks to God almighty
that he gave us salvation
forgiveness of our sins
if we just believe in him, his
son the Lord Jesus Christ

You are right about Mahalia Jackson being a mountain of Power when it came to singing Go Tell It On The Mountain. A Christmas Carol that I sang many times in my youth and still remember most of the words.
Mahalia is one of my partner 's favorite singers to go to on YouTube in the evening before we go to bed.
