When I was young and growing up,
There was a little girl's picture on our wall.
What a sweet little creature she was,
Quite pretty and small.
She had a tiny heart shaped face,
A tear in her eye that looked oddly misplaced.
Who is this child that looks so sad?
And why when I look at her do I feel so bad?
Little Miss No Name in that old picture frame.
Who is this little girl and what is her name?
One day mother told me that God took her away,
"Your sisters playing with the angels, You’ll meet her someday".
As mom talked of her, there was pain in her eyes.
She's never forgotten her, no matter how hard she tries.
But as she told the stories of this sweet little lass,
The hurt seemed to ease as Mom remembered the past.
A nurse made a mistake in the operating room,
This caused great anguish and years filled with gloom.
It caused much grief and many tears,
It over shadowed the good memories for many years.
She never had a chance to experience life,
She was taken as a small child.
When I'd think of her throughout my life,
I'd get upset and riled.
You may ask how I can love someone I didn't know.
I can't tell you how or why, just that it was so.
I thought of her often as the years went by,
Wondering what she'd be like now, if she had not died.
Sometimes I'd feel guilty, I was here and she was gone.
I'd gladly give her my life, but I knew that it is wrong.
I thought somehow if I'd try to be good,
The guilt would leave me, but it never would.
It just didn't seem fair; she was here such a short time.
There were so many sisters, and God chose mine.
But as the stories of her young life were told,
All the mysteries of her began to unfold.
She was a little angel that God blessed our lives with.
The joy she gave everyone wasn't a myth.
Her place is in heaven, upon God's knee.
That's where she'll be sitting, the day she meets me.
Through the years her picture still hangs on my wall.
She is still little, but I have grown tall.
Now when I look at that picture I see,
This LITTLE MISS NO NAME COULD HAVE BEEN ME!
