THE VERY BEST
What a dear little boy you are,
Precious in many ways.
Struggling to be born by Christmas,
Missing it by a few days.
Someone else missed his mommy's birthday,
He was special and precious too.
He was born one day after
And he was so much like you.
You are going to carry his first name,
So wear it well my child.
For you have much inside of you,
To make this world run wild.
How proud of you he'd be right now,
If he were standing here.
With his chest puffed up in pride,
And his eyes so full of tears.
Someday when you are older,
You'll learn about the man.
The one you descended from,
The best in all the land.
I have no doubt you'll grow to be,
A man above the rest.
One who will do what's right,
And will be the very best.
