WHEN SHE SMILES
I was so happy the day she arrived,
I never felt more pain, nor more alive!
She came into my life for the very first time,
And all I could hear were the bells and the chimes.
Happier I thought, I never could be,
Until the day she first smiled at me.
Her smile lit a flame so deep in my heart,
And I loved her completely right from the start.
God sent her to me, she came from above,
She was my gift, and my treasure to love.
She was so cheerful and pleasant each day,
I hoped that her smiles would never go away.
I'll never forget the first time she cried,
I didn't know who hurt more, her or I.
I picked her up and her smile came,
There deep in my heart, she lit that same flame.
She grew to be so sweet and kind,
And had lots of friends, that daughter of mine.
Her love for animals and people are strong,
When we’re together, my heart sings a song.
If I live to be one hundred, there will never be,
A better feelin’ then when she smiles at me!
