Our Little Masterpiece
As I'm standing out here and pacing the floor,
Wondering what's going on behind that door.
Looking back I can hardly believe,
That it's finally happened and my daughter conceived.
Doctor's said impossible, there's no way it can be.
But here we were waiting for that miracle baby.
The door finally opened and her daddy came in view.
I knew it was over, her papa knew it too.
Her daddy's smile was all over his face,
We knew the birth had taken place.
What a proud daddy, it was plain to see,
Cigars went a flyin, one even to me.
"What will she look like, who will she take after?
Will she be the serious type, or will she bring laughter"?
We followed her mommy inside a tiny room.
The cries inside were like a sonic boom.
Babies were everywhere and as I looked around,
I walked straight to her and she never made a sound.
Such a tiny precious thing that we saw lying there.
I would have known this child; I'd have known her anywhere.
She was completely naked lying underneath a light.
I loved her so deeply at very first sight..
Until this very moment, I never really knew,
What makes a grandchild special and more precious to us too?
But when she opened up her eyes, what did I see?
But the blue in MY eyes, looking back at me.
Happy 18th Birthday Jordan. I wrote this for you the day you came into my life.
I love you, Grandma May
