Sometimes fathers get so busy and tired that they forget their little boys grow up fast. This is just reminder to those fathers.

Daddy, Why?

Daddy, why don’t you ever hug me, and hold me when I cry.
I need you so much Daddy, to dry the tears in my eye.
You always say, “Be tough son, soldiers never cry”.
But I am hurting a bunch Daddy, I’m too hurt to lie.

Yesterday I saw a Daddy, playing with his son.
They were laughing and wrestling, having so much fun.
Why don’t we do that Daddy, why are you so bushed?
You always say, “don’t bug me,” and tell me that I push.

“Leave me alone”, is what you always say to me.
“I’m sorry Daddy, I don’t understand, for I am only three.”
“I don’t know the big words, about your very hard day.”
“I only want my Daddy to have fun with me and play.”

I get so scared at night Daddy, my dreams are really bad.
When I wake you to tell you, “Why do you get so mad?”
I’ll soon grow up and be a big boy and won’t bug you anymore.
So now you can be happy Daddy, ‘cause next year I’ll be four.

Both Daddies and Mommies can lose sight of their kids' needs for parents who take time to listen to them. "Daddy, Why" tells it all, from a little boy's perspective. Parents sometimes just don't realize the impact of spending time listening, loving and playing with their children. If only this could be read by all parents.

Love ya, Sis,

A sad plight for a youngster who does not receive the love from his father that he expects and deserves. May it touch many a fathers soul who gets caught up with the world and forgets his offspring and the love he should be giving to them.

Powerful reminder for parents to be there for their children; they grow up faster than they may think or realize! I try to convey this message in my stories about family/adoption.

Poignantly, powerfully written, Bonnie, this reminder to hug your children and love them whilst they're little - they grow up way too fast. Well penned.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
