The youngest child has to endure so much but I think that's why they are stronger adults and better people for it.

Eventually, Peace Came!

Our youngest son was little and as cute as he could be.
But his older brother would tease him & really irritate me.
“If you don’t behave,” I’d say, “I’ll smack your behind.”
When I got busy elsewhere, out of site out of mind.

He did dreadful things to Tommy, and made him so uptight.
His little nerves were frayed; he was higher than a kite.
Someday he will be taller and put Jimmy in his place.
I hope and pray that I am there to see his bewildered face.

Jimmy loved his little brother I had no doubt of that.
But that didn’t stop him from acting like a little brat.
No matter how I punished him, nothing seemed to work.
He’d march to his bedroom with a tiny crooked smirk.

I prayed hard that Jimmy would see the error of his ways.
But he found more exciting means to ruin Tommy’s days.
Tommy idolized his brother but was annoyed with him too.
For all the things Jimmy did to him, everyday something new.

Eventually, peace did come and they became such pals.
I think it was when both became aware, of all the real cute gals.
And as the years went by, there bond grew very tight.
There was no bond tighter, both knowing wrong from right.

Time heals all wounds, and corrects all wrongs.
I’ve read it in the Bible, I hear it in the songs.
Because of all the teasing, Tom's character and strength excelled.
And his big brother was always there, when his little brother fell.

I just think boys have to tease and torment others when they are young. Hopefully like with your son they grow out of it. And yes brothers bonds are strong. Wonderful write. Liz

that sibling rivalry is tough on everyone--well written!

Ofttimes there's that wee bit of jealousy of the younger by the older sibling that they don't quite understand. Happy ending it seems :o)

When I was a little boy of eight or nine my tormentors were my two older brothers, but God provided me with a very short fuse, no fear and a wallop you won't believe. After a while they understood that no way they would get away with anything, although, I did got the blame for their shenanigans.
