Nurturing Love

For those that think love can survive without a little work, tenderness and giving. I don't think it can! So if you love someone, please give it your all.

Nurturing Love
 
When we parted all those years ago the pain was so intense.
Walking away from someone I loved made totally no sense.
We both were broken hearted, wondering if we would survive.
Sometimes love just isn’t enough, you must nurture it to keep it alive.
 
I knew that day when I left you we would never see each other again.
So walking away from you, I was sure my heart wouldn’t mend.
How will I get through this pain, was the question I had to know?
For I was dying deep inside and it was beginning to show.
 
I felt such emptiness deep inside, where you once used to be.
 I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, my life no longer mattered to me.
For I gave you the only heart I had, through life and eternity.
But with the years of separation that’s not how it was to be.
 
I thought our love could survive anything this cruel world sent our way.
But I was misguided and mistaken and I think I knew it that day.
For without us together nurturing our love, it can certainly die.
For it’s what happened when we parted, it happened to you and I.
 
My heart no longer feels you and hardly remembers your touch.
I find it difficult to believe this, for I loved you so very much.
Don't feel bad if your love for me has died,  for the heart can not sustain,
A love not being nurtured and cared for, the heart just can't take the pain.

When one lives alone all their lives, only child as a kid, then when grown, living alone then too, it makes it easier to end relationships even though, but to only a small extent, it does hurt as well...good write...Ed & Rufuz

You surely do have to nurute love to keep it alive. You said it all in good words here. and you did give us a wonderful read again. Your thoughts are alway on the right track and interesting to read. I surely do enjoy your writes always.
