Oh, what we get ourselves into...

I Was Little Man’s Show and Tell

“Grandma, I want to take you to be my show and tell this week.”
“My friends will really love you; and you could bring them a special treat.”
“Oh, my darling Dalton, you could find so many other things to take.”
“You could take your little bear rug or I could make you a special cake.”

“No Grandma, I want to take you and I already know what I’ll say.”
I think that’s what bothered me the most, oh, a most embarrassing day.
But how could I possibly refuse him, he’s such a dear sweet boy.
“Okay my little man I will go with you,” but still wished he’d take a toy.

I showed up bright and early at the school and sat waiting for my call.
His teacher came for me, on wobbly legs I followed her down a dismal hall.
When we finally entered the room, Little Man ran to me with pride.
“This may not be so bad I thought,” but I think I might have lied.

“You may think my Grandma's really old because her hair is grey.”
"But this is my cool Grandma,  and I brought her here today.”
“She writes real good books for kids and she brought yummy crumpets and tea.
“But what I like best about my cool Grandma is she has one heck of an ATV.”
