At Christmas time especially, we all want to give but sometimes we feel we have nothing, absolutely nothing to give anyone. These are the times we've got to dig deep and you'd be surprised at what you can find.
Nothing to Give?
Soon Christmas will be here and I haven’t a gift to give.
I tried putting money away but realized we do have to live.
It’s going to look so barren under our little Christmas tree.
Not one present beneath it, not for anyone else or me.
I know this isn’t the meaning of Christmas but I love so much to give.
It makes my heart warm and cozy and makes me strive to live.
So how am I going to feel this Christmas without a gift to bestow?
Better yet, how will they feel, and will I make their spirits low?
Wait, this isn’t the end, I can’t leave it like this.
There has to be something important I’ve missed.
I can sew, I can cook, I can write, I can give humor and glee.
That’s it; I can give some of the best parts of me.
I will bake my children’s favorite things and my grandchildren’s too.
I can write a special poem for them, this I can lovingly do.
I can make mittens, hats and scarves for all of them to wear.
I can give them laughs and joy and show them how much I care.
Oh, you should see my little tree now with presents underneath galore.
How could I have thought I had nothing to give?
I bet if I keep digging, I would find a whole lot more.
The best gifts that people can give to each other is from the heart.People don't have to spend so much money on things.All they need is creativity and they can come up with something very special where it comes from the heart.I remember a few years ago,I was looking at my awards that I got from high school and then I thought of a gift to give to my barber for all the years he has been respectful and kind to me.I went to Macy's to buy a picture frame.Then I typed and print out something that resembles an award and I put it in the frame saying "Thank you for your hospitality,keep up the great work"or something like that.When he received it,he was happy and flabbergasted.That's the beauty of gift-giving.Something that a person never expects to get and when they see it,they feel so special.take care.
I would like my mittens in pink...and the hat any color..and I like any cookies and I love anything you write and I think you are a beautiful person with a great big smile!!!

Nothing to give? Hmm! You have everything to give, Bonnie, and this poem proves it. A gift doesn't have to be from an expensive shop; the gift of love is best.

My children and I make gift items from anything we can use, and sell these at trade fairs in malls, we have set up our business this way and we earn our income from it. God has gifted us with the creative talent to provide for ourselves and it is really a joy to make them....customers like to buy them and those who receive them enjoy the gifts. (They always have Scripture in them). Making your own gifts makes the thought more personal and is greatly rewarding.
Your writing about it is so timely, and kids today must know the value of the "thought" behind the gift.

Absorbing and understanding the true meaning and see there is so much to give, to bring a smile to someone sad, to give love to a cold heart. How I love the way you just wrap your arms around and light up the room with all the warm love in your heart...
Homemade gifts are the best ever and I know you like to give your faily presents and so do I. Sometimes they just want a hug and a little homemade gift from us to know we really care. Great.
I love this poem Bonnie. My family and I are considering a Christmas without the normal present exchange. No gifts at all, just being together and enjoying each other. We're even considering doing our traditional dinner pot-luck style. We'll go to church in the morning and then we're all volunteering at a food kitchen that's providing a noon day meal for the needy. I'm looking forward to the day.
