My memory haunts a house on Texas Avenue
Enduring things no one should go through
I had cried so many tears; no one would ever know
That it was just a matter of two dead-end lives
Sentenced to life on a dead-end road.
I’ve moved far away and now enjoy the sun.
I’m rejoicing a life that’s only just begun.
But a part of me is dead and a part of me is through.
Someone’s holding my memory on Texas Avenue.
I’ve been accused a liar, and put on trial
Because the new woman feels I’m her biggest rival.
I wish she would just realize that I walked away.
When my memory’s released,
That would be the day, because…
Me memory haunts a house on Texas Avenue
Enduring things no one should go through
I had cried so many tears; no one would ever know
That it was just a matter of two dead-end lives
Sentenced to life on a dead-end road.
I wake up every now and then
Dreaming nightmares of that where and when
Wondering if I’ll ever find peace,
Wondering if any fears will ease.
I don’t want him back, yet he accuses that I
Always come around and falsely cry.
I’ve moved far from him, and he clings to me
By keeping alive my memory
I wish that he would just realize that I walked away.
When my memory’s released,
That would be the day, because…
My memory haunts a house on Texas Avenue
Enduring things no one should go through
I had cried so many tears; no one would ever know
That it was just a matter of two dead-end lives
Sentenced to life on a dead-end road.
Though I’ve moved away, some part remains
Like the aftermath of a few good stains.
It never fades away, it never gets better than worse.
My memory haunts, and that’s a hellish curse.
There's alot to be said for relocation to another town after divorce/breakup. I've often wished I had done it...fading into oblivion without a trace. It gives everyone a chance for a clean start, and removes any and all temptation to revisit past wrongs. This is a sad and heart wrenching write Lori. Michelle
