Here I am... miles from my past -
stuck...engine dead.  Long shadows cast
their ghostly images over my mirror.
Oh! Alone, I discovered, in my greatest fear.

Trapped in a moment of unfamiliar faces
pretending to be friends in unfamiliar places.
Looking for a lover who is just never there.
Wishing for even a Pretender...pretending to care.

Emtpy beer bottle in hand...dried so long ago...
I need it...I need it to survive this boring show.
So leave me to haunt this worn, smokey bar;
for, to discover each other isn't who we are.

I've never felt as lonely as I do this one moment...
Quiety driving...toward life long regret...

Sadly touching but poignantly beautiful - thoughts that needed to be shared. Thank you.

Lori,
Very good poetry! Lonliness is one of life's most terrible places to travel. I really liked the though you put behind the words in this one.

Lori, I think all people can relate to BROKEN DOWN, even when they do have someone. Often I believe loneliness comes from not being able to connect with others, and not so much not having a partner. Your words reach out and connect universally.

Powerfully expressive and meaningful. Thank you, Lori. Love and peace. Regis

Lori, Lori, Lori...there is not one amongst us that has not felt this very way at one point in our lifes or another. Most of us find it in our twenties or early thirties but some don't find that feeling till later in life. I assure you though you will if you keep the tank filled and your eyes on the road eventually end up in Disneyland. Great retrospective write.
Hugs,
Felix

A very sad write and you can feel the loneliness in it.

Lori,

A claustrophobic, lonely feeling in your words--powerfully conveyed heartache. BRAVA!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(
