Evil lurks inside of us...
our souls serve as a dam
drowning us as sinners
or saving us as Man.

We'll never know the current
within another heart's dark keep
...if the tidal wave is surging
or if Charybdis is sound asleep.

What viciousness we come to bare
when heart is left without a rudder.
Drifting aimlessly from pain to pain
only because we understand no other.

We curse all those around us
with the venom in our tongue.
But when the endings find us,
we're the only ones undone.

We destroy ourselves in unison
for no soul believes in joy.
In drama, we exist as bit players
and our heart's a sadistic toy.

I've yet to meet a single man
who exists outside this game.
Perhaps we're all too selfish.
Perhaps we are the same.
