Do you think that we would notice if the world ended tonight?
We set our alarms and drifted to dream unaware of final plight.
Trusting that life continues and that we’ll awaken in the dawn.
But what if in our dreaming, all of our world passed into gone?
Fires raging like a thunderstorm - rolling upon the wooded ground.
Tornadoes raging on the interstates - traveling purposely hell bound.
Earthquakes creeping in like some unholy fiend just out of sight.
Do you think that we would notice if the world ended tonight?
The news is getting worse each day due to morbid curiosity.
They report only the mayhem and the total anarchy
that floods our streets, ebbing and flowing under city lights.
Do you think that we would notice if the world ended tonight?
Fear ruling our every movement - hush and pause before you go.
Be wary of the stranger...be wary of the ones that you know.
You hear about it all the time...another life lost in drugged fight.
Do you think God would notice if the world ended tonight?
Just like the time of the dinosaur and their mysterious end
do you think that ours is lurking beyond the time that God did lend?
Have we become too corrupted- have we turned lamb against the lamb?
Apocalypse may be coming - but coming by our very hand.
Children can’t play alone, some can’t even play with family ties.
Wars breaking everywhere...we’re immune and forget why they die.
Complaining at the gas pump as prices soar in outlandish might.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the world came to an end tonight.
Kidnappings and molestings...murders, theft and arson...
Memorials vandalized...our future sabotaged and forgotten.
I hear the death knell sounding over a whispered funeral rite...
I had a dream that the world was ending and it was starting tonight.
So many truths here Lori and as I read each one I couldn't help but nod my head and get a little more sad,but when I finished I happened to glance to my left and noticed the picture of a little girl, my granddaughter, and for her sake I refuse to give up hoping and believing that the world still has a chance.
