Inspired by a small, winding creek that I got a chance to swim in on Sunday, May 28, 2006
Down by the crooked creek
that is where we will meet
midnight kisses and wishes
on shooting stars.
Skinny dipping where no one sees
drying off ‘neath the leaves
and only God and us
will know how far.
Meet me down by the cold, cold water
as the nights grow even hotter
laugh with me and smile
right till the end.
Down in the valley this water flows
winding down the path it goes
providing soft beaches
on its every bend.
Let the water flow over us
Let the wind shelter us
Let the only lights be the stars.
Let walls crumble down
Let the smile erase the frown
Let only God and us know how far.
Down by the crooked creek
that is where we will meet
midnight kisses and wishes
on shooting stars.
Skinny dipping where no one sees
drying off ‘neath the leaves
and only God and us
will know how far.
This poem was delightful and reminded me of the old Sugar Creek Gang series, I used to so love as a pre-teen.

Couldn't help but think about The Band's song, "Cripple Creek" as I meandered through this well-written poem. You put it all together in a very entertaining way. Skinny-dipping. Gotta love it!
