Written about a wreck the happend in front of my home on the morning of April 29th, 2006.
The moon is rising somewhere within the misty, velvet skies
laced with clouds and jet streams and angels’ fond goodbyes.
Mothers are tucking in their children and settling in for rest.
Soldiers pause within the solemn fields of battles past lament.
This morning, life continued and a trail was cut to an end.
As a life unfolded...driving that one, last, final bend.
Oblivious to the world around, she sighed one last goodbye.
And within the arms of strangers, forever closed her eyes.
We stopped our lives to help her - each running to her side.
She was stretched across the seats - injured from the ride.
Dazed, she looked around...no pavement could be seen.
The road that laid before her was flowering and green.
The wounds upon her head were real, no movie makeup here.
No seatbelt wrapped around her...No family was near.
Sirens rushed down the highway to rescue her fading breath.
She paled in the rising sun...and slipped silently toward death.
Passerby angered at the officer directing the highway traffic.
They were in a hurry and this pause was just too horrific.
Not a one turned to look at the life that faded just then.
Their hands were slapping the steering wheel thinking of only them.
The day passed on and then passed away as the nightfall came.
The world’s a little smaller tonight with the loss of one soul’s name.
Worlds move on and lives continue unknowing of this scene.
She closed her eyes forever in a moment now viewed serene.
Stunning my friend, shivers up and down spine as visions of my own loved ones being the soul losing their life in that wreck. Really empahazizes how quickly we can be denied somthing so precious and without warning. Well done.
This is a book of free verse poetry that addresses the seven main tests in life and offers some sensible solutions to passing those tests with minimal discomfort.
