Come on now baby I’s feel like getting down
Come on now baby I’s gone ta paint de town
ma feet done got so heavy
carrin’ round des here blues
dey wont ta get out and shout out wit da tunes
ma hips been achin, ta be shakin
Lord ma hips been achin ta be shakin
dey wont to move ta drum beats, faders and tempos
dat des music folks out here makin
dey wont me ta dress em’ up
dress em’ down
even dress em’ naked
cause ma hips are just a achin ta be shakin’
naw I ain’t got no money ta just be tossin off
got bills ta pay
and people to just pay-off
I ain’t got no time fo know non sense either
I’s got chilren ta raise, food ta make
and a house I’s got ta keep clean
hu…..child you know what I mean
oh but my belly yearn to roll in some loud sounds
sounds comin wit dem sinners in town
ma breast erect wit those thoughts
of rubbin up in da dark
my throat wont ta be quench wit dat sweet taste of gin
my mind wont ta go to dem places she went way back then befor’
…..des here chilren
just fo tonight open up some of dem doe’
my man say he tired and don’t wont ta hear no racket
he done worked all day and he thinking but dem bills we got ta pay
and I say:
Come on now baby I’s feel like getting’ down
Come on now baby I’s wont ta paint da town
momma gone tie her hair up just right
I’s gone wrapped dis here body up real tight
I’s gone color ma lips too
gonna put on some smells and trickets new
Baby ma bodies achin’ and gots ta ease des blues
Baby man ma body she just got ta move
we pay da rent cause da rent is due
pay half of everything else now baby you done got ta choose
da chilren are asleep dey done ate dey dinner and you done too
momma needs her desert can’t you hear dat music callin’ you?
my backbone is achin’ to twist and turn
gone be wonting some’um else later on
we both got ta work might be tired come the day
but we a tired people anyway
now baby ma body got the blues and she needs ta get away
I put ma hands on ma hips ta prove I meant da words I say
he look down and he look away ……..then he smiled at me
and say “anything fo you gots ta keep ma baby happy
cause I sure don’t wont de not having you body blues…………
naw dis one thing dat daddy cant handle”
You have written in a language almost lost to the ears of today. Great to hear the way language was spoken from a period forever froze in time. Great read!

Me on the weekend baby, love to dance and have fun. but I only get out about twice a year. Shame, shame. but my minds always kicken with the funky chicken. Creative super piece. G
A cool to the life groove write, Mitzi. It made me think of something my mother used to say a lot, "Sex is the theater of the poor." Gotta release. Also makes me think of the Apostle Paul's advice to married couples to stay apart while fasting but don't fast too long because that gives room to the devil. Better hit that thang befo' somebody else hit it for ya'. LOL Loved the language/dialect. It shows that any speech strung together in the right flow is eloquent. But then we know that from past masters like Paul Dunbar. :-) Keep doing it, gurl!
This is one blues tune waiting to be sung! Luckily, I've got the Mardi Gras Blues Crawl comin' up here in KC on Feb. 8th. Lots a shakin' goin' down then!

Hahaha!!! Out of sight. Never mind that gin, what's the word? Thunderbird. What's the price? Thirty twice. What's the reaction? Aw, satisifaction. Sorry about that but the words just demanded to be let loose and I am here to tell you I haven't thought of that little ditty in many a year. This was a wild, get-down, get-up, get-whatever poem, Mitzi. Damn straight!

Whoa and this one really gets to shaking and is a fantastic write here. Take Felix's advice.
Yankee Doodle Daddy is a historical Appalachian Family Saga. The story follows a mother's reckoning as she struggles to survive and keep her four daughters alive.
