Waiting For My Wings(brief nudity)

Aw.........here comes the sun again
to slide over my bronze body my golden skin
warming sweet sensation

I love to greet you morning sun
my eyes glitter of such excitement....I close them
to absorb the glory of you...and my head follow you
to the sky...
how i wish i could dance for you
on the stage of air
how i wish i could glide

i was told by my forefathers of the wind
to open my heart that that's when it'll begin
........to open my mind for wings

i walked the road that many have walked before
i've sat along the shore
and i know it's in me to soar
i know it's in me to soar
......in the sky like an eagle

understanding isn't hard to understand
if your heart is in line with your mind
and if by chance you open up you'll find
that your dreams and hopes aren't far at all
....not even from mine
that peace is only a mountain away
when you let your wings sway
....along with the wind

knowledge is the way so i must learn
and wait...for my wings

there are no more chains around my neck
there are no more white babies at my breast
only the law of the land telling me
that i am free...that i have equality
....but is their freedom truly free????

the wind whispers knowledge is the key
so i follow the wind and i find
that destruction is what you live by
and we fall chopped from our biggest round
but our roots are still planted firmly in the ground
our children will know of the attempted genocide
and the sun won't let em' hide
and me i will fly....but for now
...i will listen to the river...to the Nile
...i will listen to my people crying out loud
...i will listen to the wind trying to set me free
...i will listen to the ground where you buried me
.........digging up climbing
watching the sky and the glory it brings
and waiting
...and waiting for my wings

this is a poem from my slave love story that is incomplete called "Watching the Tides"
hope you enjoy it -smile-
sorry about that soar/sore

Hey Mitzi:

Thank you for the journey and the need to fly. Poetry is my wings which sometimes soar and are sometimes sore.

watching the sky and the glory it brings
and waiting
...and waiting for my wings

just settling and beautiful ending a tale of sorrowful truth that brings you to today and wings meant to fly.

Thanks for this one.

hugs,
kathy

Excellent write Mitzi!! There was plenty of imagery to go around. I like the way you did the picture so it accentuated the art of the poem itself.

We all wear our chains of one kind or another, and we all long to fly. Your wonderful poem does just that. May the wings of the muse always lift your words to the stars.

This is beautiful Mitzi. Line six should be plural 'follows'. Instead of 'that that's' in line twelve, I think it would read better if worded 'and that's when'. I like the small 'i' you use to describe yourself in this, as still battling slavery. Beautiful work and flows well. [picture is good too...] ~E

Beautiful write and I liked the pic, we all have our perspective of looking at it. I call it an art because it's a cleverly-taken picture; so it wouldn't be classified as porn...know what I mean. Good write hun!

Oh my!!!!!.....now I know what's going on in here while I was away!!!!!

Nice poem and pic Mitzi!!!!! Your pic is artfully displayed. There is a certain degree of nudity. Some are nudeful arts and some are just..... well, you know what I mean.

This is beautiful and artistically displayed!!!!!

I rarely say a word about ratings and comments on this site or any other, but this really burns me up. 1? A friend of mine had her port raided and ones were place on all of her poems. no comment. It is not just the act of a coward; it is the act of a person that is unable to speak to you about whatever is bothering them. You will be okay, because you have your friends, and you know your work is good. Trish Macqueen has a good poem called Dear Reviewer that covers this situation really well.

I agree with William Snowman about your picture. Such grace and taste shown so well.

Your poem is tremendous. Your picture works in perfectly with the theme of the sun. This is superb effort. A shining example of a tasteful presentation of the human figure in its natural glory blended in with the natural setting around it. Poetry and sun and wind and the rocks and the elements.
How anyone could rate this poorly is beyond
my comprehension. You are FREE to do as you please. Having thrown off the physical shakles ... some would have you place mental shakles around your mind to conform to their
standards of small minded mores and conventional behaviour according to their
viewpoint, which in blunt words sucks! As
does their opinion. Especially when they lack the guts to comment on their rating. They surely don't have to like what you did, but they should at least have the common
decency to state their objection to it.
Maybe it is more than meets the eye. Few have your talent and cannot express the unexpressable the way you do. I wish I posessed it. Boy it surely would draw comments if I posed naked! Bill Hugs

This is a beautiful poem....with a beautiful story...I say you have done an awesome job here.
As a woman I see nothing offensive here....we all have bodies....if mine looked like yours I might have a pic or two of me on here too.
I think it is NOT in good form to rate a poem and not comment....sad
Great write my friend,
Sharon;)
