On the shelves these cards stand row on row

Georgous designs with colors that flow

Magnificant striking lovely to see.

Created by masters of hyperbole.

It is the sentiments that ring untrue

False platitudes through and through.

We are not Gods and Goddesses of Love

We are just a couple trying to keep a roof above.

Instead of verses 'deepest love and vision fair'

And "Angels dancing in your hair"

What the verses should really say

Is,  it has been damn tough but I love you anyway.

For we have gone hand in hand

And we bickered and cried

But through it all with the grace of God

Our love strengthened and survived.

That is what the cards should say

On this our anniversary day

Maybe these words speak not of paradise

But they speak of the true facts of life.
