Not so long ago
I found you in the Poet & Patriot
drinking Guinness, laughing
under a poster of Che.
I fell in love that day
with your Che
and you
my free spirit sister
the activist
ghost dancer
catcher of dreams
seeker of illusions.
Today
I find you on a bench
in the garden at Villa Soquel
gazing out to sea
ferals rubbing against your ankles.
I sit by you
you smile into infinity.
confined, they say, for your safety
yet, still my free spirit sister
dancing with resident ghosts
weaving dreams
dwelling in illusion.
You have managed to introduce the character of your "sister" very eloquently with few words, Leslie. Nicely done indeed. Thank you. Love and best wishes,
DEEP EMOTIONS ARE EVIDENT IN THIS WRITE IN WHICH ONES OBSERVANCE OF A FRIENDS DIMINISHED COGNITIVE SILLS IS MET WITH SORROW BUT A DETERMINATION TO CONTINUE BEING A FRIEND TIL THE END. VERY WELL DONE! THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS. JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
What a wonderful writer you are, Leslie. I'm swept up
in the skill in which you craft these thoughts to your
free spirit sister, culminating beautifully in in the
closing line. -gene.
Mary Angela Nangini's poems celebrate the richness of life and love. From the city to cottage-country and the roads in between, Nangini explores the changing seasons of her varied region. (This book will soon be reprinted in hard cover.)
This is a book of free verse poetry that addresses the seven main tests in life and offers some sensible solutions to passing those tests with minimal discomfort.
