Poem Artwork

Sometimes in the night

When the air is still-

The world grows strangely quiet,

As the moon cast velvet shadows

Across my sleepless eyes,

You come to me.

You are a flowing vision of loveliness,

As your gown catches the light of the moon

And your eyes are lit by the stars of heaven,

The fragrance of lilacs fills the room

And mixes with the magic of anticipation,

That heightens my senses.

You move closer-

Teasing me with the gentle sway

Of your beautiful body,

Your lips touch lightly upon my cheek,

As you whisper in my ear,

Take me - I am yours.

Then at that moment of loves sweet embrace-

The sun floods into the room,

And once again it chases you away

From my waiting arms,

And the sun in all its glory-

Pales to the beauty of you.

It doesn't get any better than this. The epitome of "sweet dreams." And, so often those sweet dreams are interrupted like your last stanza shows.

When the poet heightens his sense through the flow of such words and images, the readers' senses are also heightened by the beauty of the imagined experience. Never were never so romantic as this.

Ah, fleeting dreams. The frustration to wake up when their at their best. And all put in to an elegant and beautiful text.

The Heart's Way by Rebecca McKeehan

Love is universal and not limited to the most perfect among us. In this collection of romantic short stories and poetry, love comes to those who are decidedly imperfect, who possess very real human flaws, scars, and challenges. Awaiting us as we are.
