If I could sing

If I could sing, I would sing about
The little child
Curled up in a dark corner, with nothing
To eat, drink or wear
Wondering, what happened to mom and dad,
That I never knew them?
I would sing of love and loss,
If I could sing

If I could sing I would sing about
The little girl or boy
Through the hardships of life
They smile, joyfully
With unknown tomorrows
Their heart still grateful
I would sing of hope and faith
If I could sing

If I could sing, I would sing about
The unborn baby
Cushioned in her mommy’s womb, with no chance
To be born and to live
Because the parents are wondering if
They really want this baby
I would sing of life and death,
If I could sing

If I could sing, I would sing about
The sick parent
In bed with an untreatable disease, with little
To hope for
Wondering, what would become of my children,
When they grow up and I am not there?
I would sing of happiness and sadness,
If I could sing

If I could sing, I would sing about
The world in my heart
About the forgotten and neglected,
And the disadvantaged
About the lonely and disappointed,
And the discouraged
I would sing of the ups and downs of life,
If I could sing

Apparently, I can sing since I belong to two choirs. However, the songs/hymns that we work so hard to "perfect" are not "my" songs. I think we would do better to sing about what you wish you could sing about, Anita. In any event, you are singing with your verses. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and blessings,

Regis

You may not be able to sing, but, you did a beautiful job writing about all the things that's in your heart. Just keep on writing. This is a beautiful and heartfelt poem.

...and you are singing...notes of blueness...and lyric of hidden hopes...found somewhere...in a corner of the sun.
well written Anita...
