The grass was growing greener,
it looked wild and was getting tall .
I pulled out the lawn mower ,
but it refused to start at all .
I'm no mug so I pulled out the plug ,
and wiped it over well.
Here now begins the sad story of the mower sent from hell .
I checked the fuel line ,
then I fitted a new set of blades .
I checked the filter and the cables ,
for half the day I slaved .
I put the plug back in
and then I tried to start it up again .
I pulled the cord a dozen times almost doubled up in pain .
Bathed in sweat I said a prayer ,
With blistered hands the cord I tugged .
Suddenly she kicked and fired ,
but then the lead fell off the plug .
I could almost sense that the neighbours around
were mocking me .
Curtains moved ,
it was as if the entire street was watching me .
I'm no mug ,
I put the lead back on the plug and tugged again .
I stood there with heavy baited breath .
I pulled the cord again .
The cord snapped like myself with stress .
This lawnmowers a joke !
I dismantled the casing and unwound the coil ,
but that broke !
Daylight was slipping away
and it was starting to get dark .
