Ah yes , so there we were ,

with many gifts to bear ,

In the process of celebrating Christmas again .



With the Christmas cards sent ,

and our money spent ,

we were on the last stretch now and starting to feel the strain .



My wife and I knew ,

there was so much to do ,

so we worked like a pair of Trojans for the last few days .





Outside the front door

We placed lights galore ,

Then decorated the house in so many colourful ways . .



On that December day ,

When visitors came our way ,

we where so exhausted that we nearly passed out .



With all the Christmas bliss

There was some thing we had missed ,

It was the meaning of what Christmas is about .



Its not found in a Santa suit ,

Or in toys so bright and cute ,

It's the treasure of a life without stress .



In a family without equal ,

there are three beautiful people,

the salt of the earth more or less .





Jesus Mary and Joseph are they ,

the light of Christmas day

how easy we forget the message there





So the holy family ,

Brought the message home to me ,

How Christmas should be an easy load to bear .
