I’ve worked inside hospitals and out in the community .
I guess that why I’m so aware of our vulnerability .
Boils and blisters or abscesses that swell up like a balloon .
Broken bones , grunts and groans,
it’s a battle morning,night and noon .
There are many needs , from heavy bleeds , to a simple bed pan .
Organs break down , viruses go around ,
God we do all we can .
With ulcers and other places there,
infection can get in ,
There’s cracks on backs , cuts in guts , holes in molars and moles on skin .
Bed baths , tubes that pass fluids through .
Skin grafts or drops in the eye .
Hot flashes , red rashes .
Ointments and oils or creams to apply .
Everyday there’s more to pay ,
For the pain gets worse for some .
In this decline my job on the line ,
And I’m left feeling numb .
Goodbye friends, I hope your trouble mends.
My job’s been cut , I’m through .
Tell you something , whatever’s coming ,can’t change the black and blue .
