old thought patterns
confusing me most of that day,
the day after you left,
a confusing time
filled with croissants,
blackberry wine
and maudlin memories,
like syrupy fruit
clinging to electrical
impulses
down my spine,
a sort of enervation,
a power loss in my soul,
when drunken beauty lurching
out from my subconscious
took the place of real
women singing songs of desire.
Very nice. "A jug of wine, a loaf of bread, and thou." You've managed to play off Omar Khayyam without sounding like you cribbed the idea from him. Good job.
