he went alone
that night,
quite solemn but full
of his ego
caressing that voice
that complained,
for the voice knew danger,
knew exactly what the night
could bring,
its cautious warning
louder each step
he took.
Ooooo!!!! Love the internal and external tensions in this one, Larry!! The actual danger being confronted by an inner struggle, too. You have penned in just a few, well-crafted lines an allegory about "overcoming" here, I think. But then, sharp, incisive and cleverly layered writes is what I have come to know you for. Thanks for the thrills and the excitement! Best wishes for 2005, LOL Kate xx
I love the way you play with the senses..and one can really grasp the danger the person is in..It also explains what poetry is :a voice, a sound ..a climax ,danger.. a battle of words.Anne.
