the struggles in doctors'
private lives rages from seven a.m.
till eight at the coffee shop near
the hospital.
voyeurs know to park their
chairs near the sugar and cream, pretend to type
on laptops wired for ether's spark
and listen.
docs are on the run, sharing
last night's trysts, poking
fun at fogy doctors too
old for fun.
these coffee fiends wear
their green scrubs and
dunk croissants, not
donuts, but seem
oblivious to ordinary
caffeine freaks who sip,
listen and smile as secrets
only guessed at on TV
make the rounds near
trendy coffee pots.
