This is the 5th year of the death of Michael Jackson.
The King of Pop. and the greatest entertainer ever! A poetic tribute!
People always want to change me.
to images in their minds,
or phantoms in dark closets.
excuses to be unkind.
Today I am their hero.
tomorrow cursed and shamed.
I can't seem to please anyone.
this dilemma helps me sing.
Each day much different,
than yesterday gone before.
New and completely whole,
from day I expect much more,
The things you aren't happy with,
tell me. don't you try to change?
and when I do as you have done.
it's a dog gone dirty shame!
If I dance and sing make you happy.
and not what you think I should be.
If your loads lighter and
day brighter.
that really makes my world you see.
(refrain)
I see these men in the mirror.
two people who help me sing and jam.
And when I turn just one remains.
Hey Michael J. that's who I am.
Michael Jackson sure appealed to the "man in the middle" and didn't care which key he was on "no matter if it was black or white." He sang with heart. He danced smart. He loved children. It broke his heart. His legacy will be long remembered…
Thanks for writing this and the reminder that it has been five years already, but the Thriller lives on.
I find it hard to please everyone. Michael has my sympathy. He shared those same feelings that I have. You try to please, and then they've got an inch, then they expect a mile. I have come to the conclusion that no matter how others look at me and labeled me, it's ME who feels what is inside of the ME that counts. People are too quick to judge others without considering their own actions.
Michael had been deprived of his childhood. He was never allowed to play outside, or play like any other little boys. His life had been belonging to all others, except himself, all through his life. I can understand how he felt. He was right! - "Don't try to change me" - as no one has to change for another just because they label you and judge you.
Shame on the people!!! Michael had tried his best to give music to the world, and yet they had judged him terribly.... until he died!!
R.I.P. Michael Jackson!! You will always have a fan in me!!!
