Shadows crawl across the empty floor
That once contained artifacts
Of two lives brought together
By commitment and hope
A testament to everlasting love
Forever immutable
Indisputable
Now refutable
Shadows etched on cold marble
That once encased our bodies
In blissful solitude
One with the other
Unspoken intimacies shared
Forever in time
Constantly sublime
A universal paradigm
Shadows multiplying in empty rooms
Depicting the patter of little feet
Running and playing oblivious
To life’s vagaries
Shared memories with family
Always one
Having fun
In today’s sun
Shadows creeping across imaginary pillows
Soaked by tears
From dreams never realized
Night approaches
A harbinger of mystery and doubt
Remaining transfixed
A proverbial matrix
In a sea of polemics
Shadows demarcate the good from the bad
Always a reminder
Of unkempt promises
Death draws near
Drawing us onward
To nature’s beautiful tapestry
Present ancestry
In perfect harmony
Shadows cease to exist
In a world of constant light
When dreams come true
For all who believe
In the sanctity of humankind
Always forgiving
Forever affirming
God’s love enduring
Very unusual cadence, but it flows. Shadows - a different word to denote memories, and an excellent write taking us through them. Excellent, Keith! Peace.
There's nothing like relishing moments with our loved ones. Standing back and watching their special ways that only we would notice. Holding the hand that wipes our fevers and spoon feeds us chicken soup to make us better.
Those that labor every day to supply us a home and all those things that we have gathered over the years.
