Wooden benches, oak paneled walls
Opposing counsel to show just cause
Why two people who were to love forever
Now sit across a chasm, a relationship severed
Speak to third parties instead of each other
After years of fighting they both feel smothered

Husband and wife once in love
Quick to dissolve what was ordained above
No turning back the die is cast
Hyperbole and narcissistic wounds outlast
Everyone is surprised by this sudden move
Except opposing parties with something to prove

Sad but true what people can do
Put asunder despite the golden rule
Promises broken, trust dissolved
No forgiveness, no one absolved
If only we had worked harder to save
A broken relationship headed to its grave

Man and woman with memories to share
Some bittersweet because we did care
How to tell children is the question to ask
Of all insults perhaps the most difficult task
Why do people drift apart?
Once inseparable now broken hearts

Everything once good turns to bad
Counsel intervenes, true but sad
Will you remember good times after the battle?
My prayer is yes, if we’ll not tattle
Tis over now, we’re finally alone
Separately we face life’s unknown

It's always painful if a relationship ends. But sometimes the only solution if you cannot continue.
What will be left? Hopefully at least some good memories

On the Edge of Words by Debra Kraft

Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
