Lonely, tired, and depressed
I might lie down and take a rest
Crawl into a welcomed respite
Spruce the pillow and pull up the blanket
Thoughts remove me from a world of hate
And take me places I create
Hues and forms unfamiliar to most
Flood my mind like a parasitic host
Delightful scenes of yesteryear
Permeate membranes without a tear
Marriage, children, family and friends
Fill dark holes deep within
This sinister spirit pervades my being
Thwarts intentions and limits seeing
Nature’s beauty turns to gray
To fill the void I feel today
Pills and talk no longer work
To remove the sadness and the murk
I spiral down like a runaway train
Pressure building on my brain
The doctor says it’s an inoperable mass
I lose hope, not up to the task
My eyes turn inward to review what’s left
Inside this organ memories removed by theft
A sudden light floods the darkness
Excises the tumor and leaves me speechless
Warm hands cradle my head
Dry up my tears, no longer shed
I’m guided through a tunnel toward light
To waiting friends and a man in white
Surrounded by incredible calm and warm
God appears in human form
His majestic presence envelopes my spirit
Invites me into a place triumvirate
Encased by his love I’m never alone
Holds out his hands to welcome me home
